About
Who We Are
Churches are among the most recognizable features a city can have, yet their historical, cultural, and architectural significance is often overlooked. At ChurchForm, we help people understand the characteristics that make each church special. More than a website for the purpose of proselytizing, ChurchForm seeks to educate and share from a secular point of view with potential visitors and fans of history and architecture.
Inspiration
ChurchForm was inspired by my childhood experiences. As someone raised in a home and family of different denominations (Catholic, Anglican, and Quaker), I always had a hard time choosing which church to go to each weekend, so I chose the one that I thought was the most beautiful architecturally. Over the years, my appreciation for churches grew, which led me to research and learn more about the historical and cultural aspects of each church. Currently, I do not belong to any denomination, but that has never stopped me from taking the opportunity to visit a new church and learn about its meaning and origins whenever I can.
Methodology
ChurchForm functions as a guide designed to facilitate and make religious tourism more accessible to visitors. To simplify navigation and improve the user experience, ChurchForm organizes churches into clear subsections based on religious denomination and architectural style. Each subsection includes major churches that we believe should be visited.
Every church profile is presented using a consistent structure and includes:
- Architectural description and prominent design features
- Historical background and cultural significance
- Denominational tradition and liturgical distinctions
- Practical visitor information, such as service schedules and clergy information
- Visual documentation, such as photos and videos
